Finding Your Signature Scent — A Beginner's Guide
A short, practical framework for choosing the one perfume that feels unmistakably you.
A signature scent is the fragrance people start to associate with you — the one that lingers on your jacket, in your car and in memories. Choosing one can feel overwhelming when there are hundreds of bottles to pick from, so here is the framework we walk our customers through.
Step 1: Pick a scent family, not a bottle
Every fragrance belongs to a family — floral, woody, oriental, gourmand, aquatic, chypre. Think about what already makes you feel good: warm vanilla and caramel? Fresh sea breeze? Sandalwood and incense? Start there. Try our fragrance quiz if you are not sure.
Step 2: Test in 3ml first
Never commit to a 30ml or 50ml until you have worn a fragrance for at least three full days. A perfume smells different in the bottle, on your wrist, at hour one and at hour six. Our 3ml discovery bottles are made exactly for this.
Step 3: Ask two honest people
Your own nose gets used to a scent within minutes. A partner, sibling or close friend will tell you if it suits you — and often notice it before you do.
Step 4: Build a small wardrobe
Most people are happiest with 2–3 signature scents: one for daily wear, one for the office, one for evenings and special occasions. It keeps your identity consistent without becoming boring.
Step 5: Wear it consistently
A scent only becomes yours when people smell it on you repeatedly. Rotate within your small wardrobe — do not chase every new release — and within a few months, one of them will start to feel unmistakably you.
