How To Make Your Perfume Last All Day
Simple habits — from moisturising to pulse-point placement — that stretch every spray from morning to midnight.
You paid for a beautiful scent — the last thing you want is for it to fade before lunchtime. The good news: how long a fragrance lasts is mostly about how you apply it, not just what you buy.
1. Moisturise first
Dry skin holds fragrance poorly. Apply an unscented lotion or shea butter right after your shower, then spray your perfume while your skin is still slightly warm. The oil in your moisturiser gives the fragrance something to cling to, and every pulse point becomes a slow-release diffuser.
2. Pulse points, not clothes
Spray on the inside of your wrists, the base of your neck, behind your ears and in the crook of your elbows. These spots stay warm, and warmth pushes fragrance out into the air all day long. Clothing traps scent but does not project it — and some oils can stain delicate fabrics.
3. Do not rub your wrists
Rubbing crushes the top notes and shortens the life of the scent. Spray, wait a couple of seconds, and let it settle on its own.
4. Layer with matching body oil
If you love a fragrance, use it in your body oil too. Layering the same scent in oil form under your perfume can double how long people smell you.
5. Choose the right size for the moment
A 3ml discovery bottle is perfect for testing a scent for a full day before committing to a bigger size. If you already know your signature scent, a 30ml or 50ml at home plus a 6ml in your bag means you can top up on the go.
